How can we help ?

Custody cases

Child custody, visitation right and child support

We have a long experience in dealing with child custody cases.

Custody disputes and a new arbitration process called “follo” have employed our office significantly in recent years. In addition, we have assisted our clients in child abduction cases (Hague convention) and other international situations related to children.

We have also participated in custody disputes in administrative courts.
The decisions made in child maintenance, right of access and child custody related cases have often a major significance for the well-being of parties to the case. In these cases, we always aim to achieve a solution which is not only consistent with our client´s interest but also with the best interest of the child.

FAQ

  • What is custody ?
  • What does joint custody mean ?
  • What can I do if I am not allowed to see my child?
What is custody ?

The sole custodian is solely responsible for the child’s affairs and makes legal decisions concerning the child (eg school, day care, health care). Only a custodian can get information on the child’s affairs from different authorities.

What does joint custody mean ?

Joint custody means that parents decide together on the child’s affairs and each guardian has the right to receive information from the authorities about the child.

What can I do if I am not allowed to see my child?

You can apply for an enforcement order from the district court. A parent may be required to comply with a visitation agreement at the risk of a fine. If it is likely that the visitation rights will otherwise be neglected, the child may also be required to be retrieved by authorities. You can ask for help from our law firm here.
